There is no doubt that Erling Haaland’s future lies outside of the German club. At Borussia Dortmund, Haaland has been nothing short of a sensation. The youngster has 47 goals in 48 Bundesliga outings and still has a lot of potential to demonstrate.

Interest from prominent clubs in Europe has been pouring in, with some prepared to break the bank to add this player into their lineup.

Manchester City, Chelsea, Real Madrid, Barcelona, and even Bayern Munich are all interested in this Norwegian striker.

Where will this man go only time will tell. He might stay at Dortmund for another season, but no more than that.

So, what to make of this for Borussia Dortmund?

Who can they possibly find to fill the shoes of Erling Haaland after he makes his departure?

Let’s try to figure that out, as we look at a few potential candidates, that Dortmund can bring in to replace Erling Haaland once he leaves.

Patrik Schick

Bayer Leverkusen will have to work extra hard to keep hold of their striker, who managed to garner everyone’s attention since the Euros.

He has 13 goals and two assists in 13 games for the Bundesliga club and is an outstanding player.

Borussia Dortmund should make a move for this Czech Republic striker, who has Bundesliga experience and is in phenomenal form.

Darwin Nunez

Benfica has a habit of signing brilliant South American players and then selling them for a tidy profit, and Darwin Nunez appears to be their next big sale.

This season, the 22-year-old has been on fire in the Primeira Division, scoring 13 goals in as many games for the Portuguese club.

Dortmund will have a ridiculous amount of money after they make their sale of Haaland, so they might as well be enticed to sign Darwin Nunez from Benfica.

Donyell Malen

Another teenage striker connected with a move away from the Dutch Eredivisie is Donyell Malen. This season, the attacker has 23 goals and eight assists in 38 games for PSV Eindhoven in all competitions.

Malen is also handled by Mino Raiola, which could make it easier for the team to recruit the 22-year-old.

Mohamed-Ali Cho

Ali Cho is the most recent prospect to emerge from French football. Despite being only 18 years old, he is already valued at 12 million euros by Transfermakt.

Since making his first-team debut with Angers in August 2020, he has progressed steadily.

He is a center-forward, but he can also play on either wing, where he can use his speed and cut inside to make the most of his better left foot. At 1.82m, he is an imposing player with a physical presence as well as quality.

He boasts strength, character, and technique, all of which make him a difficult player for opposing defenses to stop, especially when he is in full flight.

Alexander Isak

Alexander Isak is a former Borussia Dortmund player who now plays in La Liga for Real Sociedad. However, the young Swedish international is the favorite to succeed Erling Haaland.

Most crucially, Dortmund has a buy-back clause for Isak, which would make a transaction easier to negotiate. The possibility of returning to Germany with more experience would be a nice prospect for the 21-year-old.
