Patrik Berger has revealed that Borussia Dortmund has put together a list of strikers who are seen as a temporary replacement for Sebastian Haller. Dortmund completed the signing of Ivorian striker Sebastian Haller from Ajax, with the Bundesliga club looking to fill the void left by Erling Haaland’s departure. Sebastian Haller had signed a four-year contract with Borussia Dortmund after playing for West Ham in England and achieving a record with Dutch giants Ajax.

Top striker Bradley Fink’s performance at Dortmund’s U-19s helps draw comparisons to Erling Haaland. Dortmund is still considering a more experienced player to close the gap after exploring the possibility of relying on Bradley Fink. With Borussia Dortmund awaiting a complete diagnosis, the club has drawn up a shortlist of four potential strikers who the Bundesliga giants could soon sign if Sebastian Haller is out for months, with Paris Saint-Germain’s Mauro Icardi. Borussia Dortmund previously signed RB Salzburg striker Karim Adeyemi as a potential replacement for leader Erling Haaland, but now it looks like they want to add another striker. They are also looking for the Inter Milan striker Edin Dzeko. The other option is the Uruguayan striker who plays in the Premier League with the Red Devils Edison Cavani. Let’s look at the players and their stats whom BVB are targeting.

Mauro Icardi

Mauro Icardi joined PSG from Inter Milan in 2019’s transfer window. Since joining PSG, Icardi has mainly played as a striker, coming off the bench and helping the team with his involvement on the field. Last season he scored four goals in the Ligue 1 in 24 matches. In the 20-21 season, he scored seven goals and provided three assists in 20 Ligue 1 matches. Although his high-scoring season with PSG came in his first year, 19-20, where he scored 12 goals, made two assists in 20 Ligue 1 matches and scored five goals in 7 UEFA Champions League matches. He averages 2.5 shots on goals per 90 minutes. He averages six attacking touches per 90 mins.

Edin Dzeko

Edin Dzeko played for Inter Milan and joined the side at the start of the 21-22 season. He has netted 13 times and given five assists in the last season in 36 Serie A matches. He scored 1 goal in 5 Coppa Italia matches and netted thrice in 7 UCL matches. In the 16-17 season, he was then playing with Roma and displayed his peak performance, where he scored 29 goals and assisted nine times in 37 Serie A matches. He averages 3.3 shots on goal per 90 minutes and has 6.83 attacking touches per 90 minutes.

Edison Cavani

The Uruguayan star has been a part of Manchester United since the start of the 20-21 season in the first season; he scored ten goals and provided three assists in 26 Premier League matches, and in the last season, he scored two goals in 15 PL matches. But with PSG, he was lethal in front of goals. Edison Cavani fits in many tactics and has a very good fininshing.

Some similar striker they can look for is Danny Ings, Jamie Vardy, Luis Suarez and Moussa Dembele.
