Borussia Dortmund has named Edin Terzic their manager until 2025 after the departure of Marco Rose, the Bundesliga club said in a statement on Monday. Borussia Dortmund is installing Edin Terzic as their manager until next season, handing over to the former caretaker coach permanently following Marco Roses’s firing last week. Borussia Dortmund manager Edin Terzic was assistant manager under Lucien Favre in 2018, and after the Frenchman was fired, they took charge temporarily for the remainder of the 2020-21 season, then became technical director at the club.

Edin Terzic was then returned to that role, signing until June 2025. Terzic, initially Lucien Favre’s assistant manager, was appointed as acting manager in December 2020, when the Swiss tactician was fired. Edin Terzic was interim coach for the 2020-21 season following Borussia Dortmund‘s dismissal of Lucien Favre in December 2020, taking over in the time between Favre’s departure and Marco Roses’s arrival from Borussia Monchengladbach the following summer. With the decision for Rose to become permanent manager already made, Borussia Dortmunds owners decided to make Edin Terzic the club’s Technical Director.

Terzic was promoted from assistant manager to Borussia Dortmunds interim manager from December 2020 to May 2021 following Lucien Favre’s dismissal — and guided the club to German Cup glory in his last match. Edin Terzic went on to become an assistant manager for the under-17s, under-19s, and reserve teams before taking up roles as an associate manager for the first-team teams of Besiktas (2013-15) and West Ham United (2015-17), before returning to Signal Iduna Park in 2018 to become an assistant under Lucien Favre. After a successful first spell in charge, Edin Terzic will probably go down well in the changing rooms, as he is a popular figure known for his excellent communication with players. Gio Reyna welcomed new energy and some new life added post-Edin Terzic, complimenting how on offence, he allows me to play my game and to have freedom, the most important things as a forward.

Terzic comes on after Borussia Dortmund already made four new signings for the coming season: Defenders Niklas Sule and Nico Schlotterbeck from Bayern Munich and Freiburg, respectively, striker Karim Adeyemi from Salzburg, and midfielder Salih Ozcan from Cologne. BVB will discuss their new assistant coaches’ staff over the coming days. However, several candidates, including Terzics 2021 assistant Sebastian Geppert and long-time Bundesliga assistant manager Peter Hermann, who has managed Jupp Heynckes, Niko Kovac, and Hansi Flick at Bayern Munich, appear to be leading candidates. Marco Rose, The resignation of Marco Rose was mutually agreed to last week, following Dortmund’s end to their Bundesliga campaign with an eighth-place team.
